About institution
The first school building in Bačko Gradište was built in 1832. Throughout history, the school buildings and locations have changed. After the liberation of the village on 22 October 1944 the old school was restored and classes started. The current school building was built in 1967, and it provides all the conditions for good quality teaching and educational work with pupils.
It comprises: a library, gym with changing rooms for pupils, a room for teachers and a sports equipment room, two workshops for janitor, a special room for the principal, secretary, pedagogue and bookkeeper; then, there is one room for auxiliary technical staff and a distribution kitchen. The pupils of our school achieve exceptional results in football, volleyball, karate, and especially in table tennis, where they qualify for the district and national competitions every year, and we were also state champions in 2012.
"Svetozar Markovic” primary school in Bačko Gradište is organised as an independent institution for compulsory education of children in regular classes. Teaching is conducted bilingually in the Serbian and Hungarian languages of instructions.
The staff of our school comprises 56 employees, 43 teachers,a pedagogue, a librarian, a secretary, an accountant, a janitor, five cleaners, one waitress and a school principal.
